NCBFAA President Jose D. (J.D.) Gonzalez submitted comments to the Federal Register in response to NOAA Fisheries-NMFS’ proposed rule to strengthen and expand the Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP), urging NMFS “to rethink this proposal” since “it upends longstanding commercial practices, impacts the flow of trade and alters the meaning of customs law – with no measurable improvement in SIMP supply chain tracking.”
